What is the objective of Freecell?

The objective is to move all 52 cards from the tableau columns into the four foundation piles. Each foundation pile must be built from Ace to King, strictly following the suit.

Can you get stuck in Freecell?

Unlike some other solitaire variants, true Freecell is designed such that every game is theoretically solvable given optimal play. However, poor decisions with Free Cells can lead to situations where progress stalls.

How many Free Cells do I have?

You have four Free Cells available to temporarily hold cards. You can hold one card per cell at any given time.

How do I move cards in the columns?

Cards in the columns must be played in descending order (8 over 9, 7 over 8, etc.) and must alternate in color (red over black, black over red).
